Sofi Lomidze is a 19-years-old violinist.
She began her musical journey at the age of three
at the Beit Dan Jewish Cultural Centre,
later continuing her studies at the Kharkiv Children's Music School under Olena Yevheneva,
with additional mentorship from Professor Leonid Zeyde of the University of Melbourne.
From a young age, Sofi has been a laureate of numerous international violin competitions across Europe, including in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Spain, Poland, Georgia, and Ukraine, and has been honoured by the Ukrainian Ministries of Education and Culture for her contribution to national cultural heritage. Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine in 2022, she was compelled to leave her home and school, relocating first to Georgia, where she studied at the Tbilisi Mikeladze Central Music School and performed at the Rondo-Klasika Festival. That September, she was awarded a scholarship to The Purcell School for Young Musicians in London, studying under AistÄ— DvarionaitÄ—, and graduated with distinction this year. From September 2026, she will continue her studies at the Royal College of Music.
Sofi has performed with the Sitkovetsky Chamber Orchestra and is a regular guest with the Royal Orchestral Society Orchestra and the St James's Chamber Orchestra, which led to an invitation to join the Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra. Her solo and chamber appearances include Cadogan Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St John's Smith Square, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and in 2026 she was awarded the prestigious honour of performing at Wigmore Hall in London, alongside an appearance on BBC Radio. She has taken part in festivals across the United Kingdom and Europe, including the Shkolnikova Summer Academy in France, where she performed Ukrainian music, and has received masterclasses from Lisa Batiashvili at the Mozarteum, Itzhak Rashkovsky, Roman Mints, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Olga Kaler, and Daniil Kurganov.
Sofi believes that music carries a responsibility beyond the stage, and regularly performs at charitable concerts and fundraising events in support of children affected by conflict and in need. Since her relocation in 2022, she has performed at more than twenty charity concerts, including fundraisers for medical ambulances. Notable appearance on the concerts, including "We Are" Festival (2025) and "Another Music Festival," and "Song for Ukraine" at Farm Street Church in July 2026.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Sofi has a wide array of passions. She enjoys
learning rare languages and painting, as well as
horseback riding, since early childhood. Beginning ballet at the age
of three, Sofi continues to find joy in dance to this day.
